Quick & easy, these steps will guide you on how to make a perfect cup of Goodricke single estate tea.

For this guide, we are using our Borbam Single Estate Assam CTC Tea.

  • Boil water: Start by boiling fresh, filtered water. The temperature of the water may vary depending on the type of tea you’re using. This tea requires lower temperatures (around 70–80°C or 160–175°F).
  • Measure the tea leaves: Use a teaspoon or a tea infuser to measure the appropriate amount of tea leaves. The quantity will depend on personal preference and the strength you desire. As a general guideline, use around 2–3 grams (about one teaspoon) of tea per cup (8 ounces) of water.
  • Preheat the teapot or cup (optional): You can preheat your teapot or cup by rinsing it with hot water. This helps maintain the optimal brewing temperature for longer.
  • Add the tea leaves to the teapot or infuser: Place the measured tea leaves in a teapot or a tea infuser. Make sure the vessel is large enough to allow the leaves to expand and release their flavours.
  • Pour the hot water over the tea leaves: Pour the hot water over the tea leaves, ensuring they are immersed. The water should cover the leaves to extract their flavours. Allow the tea to steep for the recommended time.
  • Steep the tea: The steeping time varies depending on the type of tea and personal preference. Our Borbam Single Estate requires shorter steeping times (1–3 minutes). It’s important to follow the recommended steeping time to avoid over-extraction or bitterness.
  • Strain or remove the tea leaves: After the desired steeping time, remove the tea leaves from the teapot or strain the tea if using an infuser. This prevents further extraction and ensures a consistent flavour.
  • Serve and enjoy: Pour the brewed tea into cups and savour the flavours and aromas of the single-estate tea. Depending on personal preference, the Borbam Single Estate can be enjoyed as is or with a dash of milk, sweeteners, or lemon.

  • Black Tea: Black teas, including single estate varieties such as Darjeeling and Assam, have a higher caffeine content than other tea types. On average, an 8-ounce cup of black tea can contain around 40–70 milligrams of caffeine, although it can vary.
  • Green Tea: An 8-ounce cup of green tea may contain around 20–45 milligrams of caffeine, but this can vary depending on factors such as brewing time and water temperature.
